Athens is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Traffic in Athens peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. From the first moment you walk in, it feels like you’re transported to a movie set in the jungle, the decoration is fun and rich. Self service restaurant, you grab a menu and order your food and find a table, they’ll ring the food to you, big selection of Hispanic food, from Mexican, Peruvian to Colombian, Puerto Rican and DR, lots of options to fit your palate! I’ll definitely come back

Third visit here and still impressed. The veggie tamal and empanada were delicious, and the veggie Cuban sandwich remains my favorite—always flavorful and satisfying. Paired with a Jarritos and a fresh side salad, it was a great meal. Definitely a place we’ll keep coming back to.

Cali N Tito’s is always a great stop in Athens. The Tacu Tacu was our choice this visit paired with a pitcher of mango daiquiri over ice. The process here is part of the experience: get in line, wait a bit, then order at the counter. On busy nights, a 15–20 minute wait is not uncommon, especially if only one register is running. Drinks and chips come out immediately, then you get a number and someone brings your food to the table. Seating can get tight during peak hours and the inside gets loud with conversations, music, and kids running around playing games. But that energy is also part of what makes this place memorable. If you slow down and look around, the decor alone is worth the visit. The atmosphere feels like a hidden outdoor market mixed with an art project. Colorful, chaotic, and fun in the best way.

Was in Athens, GA for my son’s UGA orientation and came here on several recommendations. Tito’s and Cali, a cross between Mexican and South American food, is the best I can describe it. All good menu items. 1st time here and will definitely be back. Ordered the Empanadas, both chicken and beef. Both delicious. Chicken was my favorite. Flautas was good, came with salad, white rice and beans. My son got the Cuban Sandwich. He said it was amazing! He’s probably going to be here at least once a week if not more.

Came back to my college days for this stop. The first thing to note is the atmosphere. It is energetic, eclectic, and vibrant. You have a unique dining experience here for sure. To start you order at the counter. We ordered the lomo saltado and the gran combo. The lomo saltado is their version of fajitas. It was good. Steak was delicious. We added the egg and avocado and I am glad we did. Makes it more hearty. I was less impressed with the gran combo but it was still solid. Just wish for more food for the price. I also wanted to switch out for more plantains but they said I couldn’t. Upon returning I remembered why it was a go to place in college. I hope it continues to be a go to place for many. I would still choose here on return visits and just try other things.
